Digital Photographs

Statements (2020) is a series of digital photographs that formed my response to the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020. It is about how political leaders everywhere continue to dismiss the concerns of everyday people by releasing form emails and statements. These statements are meant to make people feel that their leaders care about them while said leaders continue to do nothing but bask in their own power. This series calls out this dynamic between people in power and those who continue to fight for change. Statements was featured on the cover of BUFF magazine in 2021 and in the Greenwood publication Situational Inverse: Overturning Traditions in 2022.
